Admission

Application Requirements

We believe that in order to be a successful student at SUNY Plattsburgh, you must also have been a good student in your home country. Admission is based on your previous academic achievement, including:

  • School grades

  • English proficiency

  • Completed application

  • Test scores

  • Personal essay

Admission Criteria

First Year Students:

  • 85+/100 (3.0+/4.0) high school average

  • SAT/ACT: Optional (encouraged in order to demonstrate academic merit)

English Proficiency

Unrestricted enrollment into degree program:

  • TOEFL 76+

  • IELTS 6.5+

  • Duolingo 105

Requirements for enrollment through the English Bridge Program:

  • TOEFL: 57+

  • IELTS: 5.5+

  • Duolingo 87-104

How to Apply:

Apply for fall or spring admission using either the SUNY Plattsburgh International Undergraduate Application or the Common Applicaton.

A completed application is necessary prior to consideration. This includes a completed application form, the application fee, and all required academic and financial documents.

When to Apply:

  • We begin reviewing applications for enrollment in August (fall semester) on or about November 1 of the prior year

  • We begin reviewing applications for enrollment in January (spring semester) on or about September 1 of the prior year

  • We begin reviewing applications for enrollment in August (fall semester) on or about November 1 of the prior year
